A Tale of Two Buildings: Comparing Delivery Systems & Construction Technology

1.5 LU/HSW Hours
Thursday, October 9th, 2:15 pm – 3:45 pm

What can we learn from the design and construction of two very similar buildings – student residences of over 500 beds -  designed by the same architectural/engineering team, and built at the same time using the same structural and MEP systems based on the two ways they differ: 1. Method of Project Delivery: CM-at-Risk vs. Design-Bid-Build 2. Method of Construction: Prefabrication vs. Stick-Built With this unique opportunity to eliminate many variables, including time, place, program, etc., and focus on the key  differences of these two project, this session will compare the advantages and disadvantages of the varying methods of  project delivery and construction
